BLACK INVENTORS HALL OF FAME MUSEUM

BrandNu Design Studio is the design lead for the Black Inventors Hall of Fame Museum, currently in development in West Orange, New Jersey. The 90,000 square foot project is an adaptive reuse with an addition located at Mayfair Farms. AKT Design is serving as the architect of record.

The museum is a new cultural institution focused on honoring the legacy, creativity, and influence of Black inventors in America. Exhibits highlight innovation across transportation, agriculture, medicine, science, and technology. The visitor experience centers on hands on learning, storytelling, and direct connections between historic invention and contemporary life.

BrandNu Design Studio has assisted the client with site selection, programming, and conceptual design. Early work focused on aligning the mission of the museum with the physical needs of the building, the surrounding site, and long term operational goals. The planning process prioritized flexibility, clear circulation, and spaces designed to support changing exhibits and evolving educational programs.

The design repurposes an existing structure on the Mayfair Farms site and introduces a new addition to expand capacity and visibility. Galleries, classrooms, event spaces, and community focused areas are organized to support school groups, families, researchers, and public gatherings. The adaptive reuse strategy preserves the character of the existing building while positioning the museum for future growth.

The project reflects a commitment to adaptive reuse, cultural storytelling, and community investment. The Black Inventors Hall of Fame Museum is moving forward as the first institution of its kind in New Jersey and is envisioned as a regional destination for education, innovation, and inspiration.
