HIGHLAND PARK COMMUNITY COLLEGE INNOVATION DISTRICT
Highland Park, Michigan
BrandNu Design Studio is leading the historic rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of the Highland Park Community College Innovation District in Highland Park, Michigan. Encompassing approximately 300,000 square feet across the historic campus at 109 Glendale Street and 100–176 Highland Street, the project transforms the former Highland Park High School and Community College complex into a mixed-use district rooted in the architectural and cultural legacy of Highland Park.
The redevelopment brings together residential, commercial, retail, educational, gallery, office, community, and event spaces within the rehabilitated historic campus. New programming will also include a mass timber design studio and research lab focused on design, fabrication, material innovation, and emerging construction technologies.
Historic preservation is central to the project. BrandNu Design Studio is leading the rehabilitation of the existing buildings and restoration of significant historic architectural features while introducing new uses that support contemporary living, learning, entrepreneurship, culture, and creative production. The project repositions this important Highland Park landmark as an active mixed-use district designed to serve the community for generations to come.
