The Michael Ford x Momentum Collection translates the liquid architecture of hip hop into textiles and wallcoverings for commercial interiors. Three upholstery patterns and two wallcoverings, drawn from lyrical cadence, sampling, typography, and movement.

The work comes out of two places. The design sessions Michael Ford runs with young people across the country through the nonprofit Hip Hop By Design, and the practice inside his own home studio, where his son Mason sketches alongside him.

The collection follows Ford's philosophy of Design for the Collective Good. Expressive on the surface, built to perform in commercial spaces. Like the culture it comes from, it layers many voices into one composition.

Upholstery

Michael Ford’s upholstery collection carries the rhythm, motion, and spirit of hip hop into tactile woven form.

Inspired by lyrical analysis, collaborative exchange, sampling, typography, and cultural storytelling, the three expressive jacquard textiles—Dance Off (gesture-inspired bouclé linework), Cypher (geometric chenille constructions encoding fragments of I AM HIP HOP), and Bronx Composition (groove-inspired linear abstraction)—bring layered texture and creative energy into commercial spaces.

Wallcoverings

Bold and architectural in scale, Michael Ford’s two wallcovering patterns transform movement and musical cadence into layered works of art.

Breakin’ features mural-scale looping linework inspired by breakdancing and sketches by Ford’s son Mason, while Flow Chart transforms lyrical analysis and rhythmic bar graphics into layered geometric compositions inspired by sound, structure, and spatial rhythm. Printed on bio-attributed Circon® wallcovering, both patterns merge bold visual storytelling with forward-thinking material innovation.
