BrandNu Design Studio partnered with Mt. Zion Baptist Church to develop a vision for expanding their campus through a new Family Life Center. This work was commissioned to explore how the church could extend its impact beyond worship and into daily community life.

The concept introduced a 40,000 square foot addition designed as a hub for connection, activity, and support. The goal was to create a space that reflects how the church already shows up for its community and to give that work a physical home.

At the center of the design is a full-size gymnasium, paired with an indoor walking track and fitness spaces that support health and wellness. Surrounding these core elements are spaces for youth programs, education, and gathering, including classrooms, a library, computer lab, and areas for mentorship and after-school activities. The design also integrates a food pantry, reinforcing the church’s role in addressing immediate community needs.

A performance stage and flexible seating areas allow the building to shift between events, services, and community programming. Administrative spaces are positioned to support day-to-day operations while staying connected to the activity of the building.

This concept reflects a commissioned design study completed with the church. BrandNu Design Studio’s involvement was limited to this phase.
